Temporal changes in left ventricular function and paravalvular aortic regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: a cardiac magnetic resonance imaging study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has been established as a therapeutic alternative in patients with severe aortic stenosis at high risk for surgery. Paravalvular aortic regurgitation (AR) is frequent after TAVI. Yet, little data is available about temporal changes of AR and the impact of TAVI on left ventricular (LV) function and dimensions. We used cardiac MRI to evaluate LV function, volumes and mass, the occurrence and degree of AR in the early and medium-term follow-up after TAVI.

Left ventricular remodelling and prosthetic valve function after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: A serial cardiac magnetic resonance imaging study
Background Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has become a common procedure for high-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis. Aortic regurgitation (AR) is commonly seen after TAVI, but little is known about how it evolves over time. Similarly, the impact of TAVI on left ventricular (LV) function, LV volumes and mass is not well defined.Paravalvular aortic regurgitation (AR) is fre...

Purpose: Paravalvular regurgitation post-transcatheter valve replacement is associated with poor outcomes. The Valve Academic Research Consortium has defined qualitative and quantitative criteria for assessing paravalvular leak severity by transthoracic echocardiography. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is highly accurate and reproducible in measuring aortic flow volumes, and has been used fo...

BACKGROUND Aortic regurgitation (AR) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has been associated with poor outcomes, but little is known about how it evolves over time. We evaluated left ventricular (LV) function, remodeling, and the occurrence and evolution of AR after TAVI by using cardiac MRI. METHODS AND RESULTS Forty-three patients treated with transfemoral TAVI underwent ca...
متن کاملImpact of aortic regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: results from the REVIVAL trial.
OBJECTIVES Understanding the severity of aortic regurgitation (AR) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation, its impact on left ventricular (LV) structure and function, and the structural factors associated with worsening AR could lead to improvements in patient selection, implantation technique, and valve design. BACKGROUND Initial studies in patients at high risk of surgical aortic val...
متن کاملLeft ventricular remodeling after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
Background Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) offers a minimal invasive option for the treatment of patients with severe aortic stenosis at high risk for conventional surgery. The objective of this study was to investigate whether there is a positive effect on the left ventricular remodeling 6 month after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) using cardiac magnetic resonanc...
